2,500 miles and 75lb lighter!

Last week I hit 2,500 miles for the year and a total weight loss of 75lb.

I'm still a way off being the weight I should be but it struck me what an achievement I have made so far. It works out at 1lb loss for every 33 miles ridden.

As well as the positive comments I get from people regarding my weight loss, I've also been getting comments that I should buy some new clothes as mine no longer fit. At the weekend I bought some new clothes. I can now buy clothes in normal high street shops and can buy many items that are just large in size. No X's in the label at all. It's such a massive confidence boost.

It's sad to think though that my brother, who inspired me to get a bike in the first place, is at the weight I was when I started back in March. If only I could get him to do the same.

  3. Phill - Thank you for setting up your monthly cycling challenges. This has helped me get some miles in when I would have just not bothered.

mcmansions - Thank you. I follow no diet whatsoever. I still eat pretty much the same as I did before except for two changes. First, cut out the crap. Chocolate, cakes, crisps, ice cream, sweets, biscuits etc. Secondly, smaller portions. I typically eat a bit more than my 10 year old.

A typical day for me would be cereal or toast for breakfast (6.30-7am). A piece of fruit mid morning. A sandwich or soup or rice or pot noodle type of thing for lunch (12.30-1pm). Pasta bake or meatballs and pasta or toad in the hole or chicken and rice for dinner (6pm). I don't eat after dinner and I don't exercise after dinner. My only exercise is 40 mins cycling in the morning and 40 mins before dinner. At the weekends I might ride 5-10 miles a day.

If you have any more questions, please ask.
